Having a Problem With Your Landlord?

We Know Landlord-Tenant Law

If you are renting a home or apartment, you have a right to expect that your landlord maintains the rental unit in good condition and honors the obligations listed in the lease which you both signed. Unfortunately, there are times when disputes arise between the two parties. Because landlords typically have more resources than tenants, it is important that you retain an attorney who is experienced in landlord-tenant law to represent your interests. Juan Estrada, managing partner of Juan Estrada Law, is that attorney. Juan is knowledgeable about federal and state laws that pertain to landlord-tenant disputes, including discrimination in housing.

As a Tenant, You Have Rights

Landlords may fail to make necessary repairs, hoping that you will simply tolerate less-than-desirable conditions and they can keep the money that repairs would cost. This and other problems can be remedied through legal action with help from Juan Estrada Law. For instance:

  • Georgia law does allow landlords to raise rent as much as they want to, but they cannot do so while a rental agreement specifying an amount is in effect.
  • Once you move into a property, a landlord must give you reasonable notice if he or she is going to enter your home or apartment and inspect it.
  • If a landlord can prove you violated the terms of a lease – such as causing damage to a property – he can evict you, but must first give you notice to vacate the premises and note the reason for the eviction.

Juan Estrada Law is dedicated to providing our clients with the representation they need. We will help find a resolution to your problem, either through mediation or by taking your case to court. If you are alleged to have violated your lease in some way, we will pursue a remedy that will help you avoid eviction.
